On March 19, 2017, the winners of the 2017 Carnival Cruise Line Scholarship were presented during the halftime show of the Miami Heat vs. Portland Trailblazers game. 17 students across all Miami Dade County schools won the scholarship; 2 of the winners (seniors Angie Betancourt and Jamilee Yern) attend Miami High.

“I feel really happy to win the scholarship because after working so hard and putting so much dedication and effort into everything I’ve done in school and outside of school, it’s actually paid off, literally!” said senior Jamilee Yern.

“It’s a surreal feeling; I am grateful to be able to go to college for free!” said senior Angie Betancourt.
