Senior Oscar Quintero compares himself to a gorilla because they seem angry on the outside, but have a warm feeling on the inside.

Chief Seattle once said, “All things share the same breath—the beast, the trees, and the man. The air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.” We all have a spirit animal inside of us, and comparing yourself to an animal can be fun and interesting.

The animal in you

“I personally compare myself to a giraffe, because its long neck helps him not to have to compete for food since he eats leaves and is not a hostile animal,” said sophomore Ronaldo Marquina.

On the other hand, senior Robert Velasquez compares himself to a lion. He said, “I’m a leader not a follower.”

Similarly, Jasmine Underwood, 10th grader, identifies with a ram. “They are majestic and unpredictable,” she said.

Senior Wilbert Bernadeau said that he is like a liger, because they are unique and very rare to come by since they are a man-made animal.

“I would be a cat,” said junior Geraldine Rodriguez, “because I’m little and quiet, but my claws can come out if necessary.”

Senior Patricia Moreno said, “A dolphin, because I like to travel and dolphins are always swimming to different places. I also like to

be free and relaxed, and what a better place than the ocean.”

Favorite characteristics

Animals can have many admirable qualities. Senior Oscar Quintero points out that gorillas have a major connection to us humans. “They are animals who develop feelings just as we do,” he said.

Senior Jorge Mosqueda said, “I think flamingos are really graceful, and just the way they pose naturally when they stand in one leg is very unique.”

Bunnies are known to be cute. “How soft and fluffy, and the way they hop—also their tiny noses are my favorite things about bunnies,” said sophomore Jennifer Cruz.

Strength is important to sophomore Mauricio Godoy. He said what he likes most about jaguars are their powerful claws and their irregularly shaped markings on their body. Likewise, senior Christopher Pastran said, “Looking at a falcon’s eyes, you can see that he is persistent and is never willing to give up when it comes to getting what it wants.”

How does your personality relate to that animal?

Some people see their personality reflected in certain animals. Junior Rigoberto Mondragon feels that his personality can camouflage to his surroundings just as a chameleon does.

Senior Erick Morales said, “I like to wrestle just like bulls do, and I consider myself independent just like them.”

Junior Kerline Momperousse believes her personality relates to a cheetah, because she is fast in trying to achieve her dreams as a cheetah is when it runs. “I also stay loyal towards my family and friends and people who matter to me, and that’s what cheetahs do,” she said.

“I like to be dominant,” said freshman Bryanna Novoa. “I stick up for what I want just like tigers.”

Similarly, Jasmine Underwood said, “My personality relates to a ram, because I’m a risk taker and I like to always go high to accomplish what I want.”

On the other hand, senior Camila Dominguez said that she never has worrie

s; she is calm and loves hugging people just like a koala.

Senior Sara Monzon has a mixed personality. She said, “I’m a playful person, but I also have a limit of patience; I could burst out with anger just like when a panda is being attacked.”

Being compared

There are times where other people compare you to an animal as well, depending on your personality. Senior Josue Rodriguez said, “I’ve been compared to a dog, because my mom says I eat a lot.”

“My sister has compared me to a sloth before, because she knows I love sleeping,” said senior Elizabeth Perera.

Geraldine Rodriguez said that she has been compared to a cat before by her friends. “I’m very curious, and no

t so trusting,” she said.
