In late February, Ms. Belony, sponsor of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) reported that seniors Shlomoh Astete won gold medal for Fashion Construction/STAR (Student Taking Action and Recognition) and Janelle Poteau also won a Gold medal for Repurpose and Redesign/(STAR). Ms. Belony said, that she is proud of the outstanding achievements of the Stingarees of FCCLA for their dedication, tenacity and courage. She said Shlomoh and Janelle qualified for state competition on March 19 to 21. Ms. Belony added that if they do well on the next project, they could be eligible for national competition, but due to Corona virus, it will take place – for the first time– virtually.
