In my opinion, Ms. Adria Garcia is the best Reading teacher that I have had because she helps, understands, and motivates her students daily. Her motto: “Nothing is impossible” encourages her students to focus and never to give up in life. 

A teacher like no other 

    Ms. Garcia stated that one of the most difficult aspects about teaching reading is that students need to meet mandated exam requirements in order to graduate. 

    One feature she enjoys about teaching is seeing kids motivated to learn. “I love to help other in all ways—academically and spiritually,” she said, “I love to help other in all ways — Academically and Spiritually”.

     I became her student this school year, and one thing that makes Ms. Garcia different is that she is passionate, she cares about all the students, and she thinks every student is special in their own way.  She said, “I love kids’ creativity and sense of humor.” 

    One of the greatest challenges Ms. Garcia has ever experienced is working virtually during the pandemic because she does not get to interact with people as much as she used to. She feels proud and grateful that she has learned from her students to work through Zoom sessions. 

Life in Cuba 

    Ms. García’s childhood was valuable even though she grew up in Cuba, a communist country. She affirms she owes everything she has accomplished to her beloved mother and to the priceless values she instilled in her. Her passion to teach was inherited from her father. She also has a sister. 

   She began teaching in Cuba in 1981. She also worked there as a secretary in the Mexican Embassy from 1997 to 2000.  

Coming to the USA 

     Mrs. Garcia’s cultural shock when she came to the United States was immeasurable: everything was new except the language. She was fortunate enough to start teaching in an elementary school in Arlington, Virginia, where she came to live.  

    After a year, she moved to Miami and continued teaching. She adds that one of the best experiences of living in the U.S. has been to live in a land of freedom where people can make choices and where she has given her son an admirable life. 

Life outside of school 

    When Ms. Garcia arrives home from work, she relaxes for a while and then does household chores and gets to walk in her neighborhood and enjoys her brand new pool. She also likes to cook, read, and go to the beach.   

   Ms. Garcia describes herself as “very sensitive”.  Some happy moments she recalls from her life have been when she became a mother, when she graduated as a teacher, and when she came to U.S.
