Historian Ana Castillo and President Naylen Gamboa with Burnie!

Key Club president Naylen Gamboa reported that Key Club has had a challenging school year. Former club sponsor Ms. Zamora transferred to another school leaving the club without an advisor. Thankfully, head guidance counselor Mr. Cuevas stepped in and has proven to be the right man for the job.

This year Key Club held services for the entire school, not just club members. Some services they have hosted are painting rocks for kindness, a beach clean-up, and collecting donations for shelter animals. One of their biggest successes was a basketball league that they organized for kids from ages 5 to 12 to play against one another. Key Club organized the event, watched the kids, and kept track of their scores. It lasted for a month and Key Club gave out over 2,500 community service hours.

For any questions on upcoming services, feel free to message the Key Club Instagram @MHSKey or stop by Mr. Cuevas’s office room in 1117!
