Senior Paris Interian, who won FIU’s Gold and Blue Scholarship.

2021 ended on a very high note for the Future Educators of America club. The Miami High chapter participated in Florida Future Educators of America’s Regional Conference hosted at Florida International University. Senior Paris Interian won first place in the “Spotlight on Education” category, winning F.I.U.’s Gold and Blue scholarship worth $10,000. In the past two years, two of F.E.A.’s Miami High chapter members have won this grandiose scholarship.

With the new year came new officers into the executive board. To refresh the club and expand its potential, new president and captain of the Varsity Cheer team Sabrina Perez took office. Replacing Sabrina as former vice president is Melissa Elmhorst, replacing Melissa Elmhorst as recording secretary is Christopher Moreno, and replacing Christopher Moreno as treasurer is Jenelle Vigo.

Teacher of the Month for January will be awarded to a very special math teacher. Although Teacher Appreciation Week is in May, F.E.A. has been working diligently to plan the best week possible to show Miami High’s teachers just how appreciated, and needed they are. In fact, before winter break, the club hosted two fundraisers to make the event as extravagant as possible.

With their club picture scheduled for January 10th, F.E.A. is excited to show how much the club has grown throughout the school year. (By Melissa Elmhorst)
