On October 22, former Miami Herald journalist Matthew Pinzur came to Miami High to share his expertise with students in Dr. DeNight’s journalism and dual enrollment composition classes. This was part of The Great American Teach-A-Thon, a public awareness campaign sponsored by the Education Fund that educates the community on what it takes to teach effectively.

Besides speaking about his career path and giving feedback to students about their writing, Mr. Pinzur, the associate vice president of communications and outreach for Jackson Health System, was the Educations Fund’s top fundraiser, collecting $7,000 to be shared equally between Miami High and the Education Fund, which promotes quality public education for every child in Miami-Dade Public Schools by providing teachers and students with resources they need to succeed in the classroom.
