Queen Bee
She has a four year old daughter, is married to a hip-hop recording artist, is a singer, songwriter, record producer and actress, has five albums, and with 468 nominations for many different awards, she has won 181 of them…She is our queen, Beyoncé.
Beyoncé has broken many records as an artist. She has the most #1 records ever by a female artist on Billboard’s Rhythm chart. She is the first female to ever be awarded the International Artist Award at the American Music Awards, and is the youngest female artist to be named a Legend at the World Music Awards. She performed for President Obama at his second inauguration, and has performed twice at the Super Bowl.
After her performance in the Super Bowl 50, she announced the Formation World Tour which will begin on April 27, 2016, right here in Miami at the Marlins Stadium. The prices for tickets were outrageous; they ranged from $75-$3,000.
One of my favorite Beyoncé songs is called “Crazy in Love,” which was released back in 2003. I like this song because if you listen to it while you’re sad, you’ll immediately forget why you’re sad and just start dancing.
Another favorite song is “Flawless,” with its strong message to women. Beyoncé talks about not just being someone’s wife, but being her own person. In the middle of the song, an excerpt from a TED talk speaker plays and states what it means to be a feminist and reasons why everyone should be a feminist.
To me, Beyoncé is the perfect role model. She promotes strength and independence in her lyrics. For example, her iconic song “Who Run the World (Girls),” says “Boy, you know you love it how we’re smart enough to make these millions. Strong enough to bear the children, then get back to business.” She is encouraging women to believe they are strong and independent who don’t really need a man in life.
An accomplished actress, Beyoncé has been in 8 movies. My favorite is Obsession because of all the intense drama.
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles, a native of Houston, Texas, married Brooklyn-born Jay Z, the hip-hop music mogul, in 2008. Her daughter Blue Ivy Carter attends a private school in California. In fact, Beyoncé performed a mini concert to raise money for Blue’s elementary school in the beginning of March.
Beyoncé, however, extends her charity beyond the family. In fact, she once donated $7 million to a Houston charity providing shelter, counseling, food, and health care for the homeless.
An amazing and strong woman, Beyoncé is a huge inspiration worldwide for women. Everyone should live by this Beyoncé quote, “Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.”
