She’s the Class of 2018 treasurer, Science Honor Society 1^st Vice President, as well as a Beta, FBLA, and F.E.A. member. Junior Britney Alpizar is quite the Sting.

Class of 2018 Treasurer

   Britney has been the class of 2018 treasurer since her sophomore year. She says her favorite part about her job is getting to be involved and work behind the scenes of the events that go on here at Miami High. “I’m like a voice for my class,” she said.

Her opinion of the Class of 2018 changes every year. She says that freshman year the class of 2018 wasn’t looking very good spirit-wise, but now, two years later, “It’s the complete opposite. I think they are super spirited and they have so much pride for our school, and I love that because I have so much pride as well.”

Student Life

School is always a priority for Britney. “My school work and my classes always come first,” she says. “It doesn’t matter if I have to go to an event, I always have to do my classwork first because if it wasn’t for my grades, I wouldn’t be able to be a class officer.”

She’s currently taking 3 AP classes: AP Chemistry, AP Language and Composition, and AP Capstone Research. After Britney graduates from Miami High, she isn’t really sure of what she wants to do at the moment, but she says she’s looking into the science and medical field because she’s really into those subjects.

Britney finds a balance between her studies, being a class officer, and being a member of Beta, SHS, FBLA, and F.E.A. “I love Beta,” she said. “I’m so glad I picked that club my freshman year…they’re super spirited, and I love that they go all out for anything and everything.”

Life outside of Miami High

   Britney was born on February 13^th, 2000, and raised in Miami by her two Cuban parents. She has an older and a younger sister. Before coming to MHS, she went to Kensington Park Elementary and Citrus Grove Middle.

She says that when she’s not at school, she likes to catch up on her sleep because that’s the only time she can. Aside from sleeping, Britney enjoys going out with her family on their boat. “I love anything that has to do with the ocean,” she said.

Another one of Britney’s hobbies is makeup, and her favorite brands are MAC, ColourPop, ABH, and Smashbox. “My favorite styles are dramatic or very simple,” she said, “and intense highlight always!”

She says her motivation is knowing that the years that she lives are limited and that she has to make the most of them. Her parents are one of the reasons for her to keep pushing through.
