Are you a freshman, and you don’t know what to do? Do you know what is important? What you can or can’t do in high school? This article will help you to find out.

Seniors have a lot of advice for freshmen. Senior Karol Orellana said, “In high school academic work becomes a little bit tougher, so you need to be more responsible. The first year defines your GPA, and you should have a good start.”

“Be prepared to know what you want to be in the future and select those classes that will help you in your career,” added senior Dayana Rodriguez.

To many seniors, the most important tests in high school are the SAT and the ACT because they determine what universities you can attend. They also say that the FSA and EOC are very important for your academic record.

Seniors have a lot to say about the actions you must take to succeed. “Pay attention to your teachers because you learn through that,” said senior Kelly Diaz.

“Participate in all activities, because you are going to want to remember them,” said senior Valentina Baldetano.

“Do everything you can like sports, teams, clubs  because you will want to do it later, and you will not have the chance,” said senior Pedro Garcia.

“Focus on your studies, be on time, and come to school every day,” added senior Jack Lumbi.

In high school there are many things you could do to hurt your future. “Skipping, fighting, and disrespecting your teacher will make you start falling behind in your classes, and you will regret it later,” said senior Christian Mesa.

“Don’t skip because unexcused absences can affect your grades and drop your GPA,” said senior Ronaldo Luna.

Senior Madeline Reyes said, “Don’t fail virtual school because it is a requirement to graduate.”

All classes that you have to take in high school are important, especially your core classes like math and English. Without them you will not have enough credits to graduate.

Here at Miami High you also have many options for choosing your electives based on what you like. “Take Marine Science if you like science because it is a little bit of every science and you will love it,” said senior Shellyann Torres.

Senior Jose Cornejo recommends taking AP classes and Calculus because it will help you a lot in college.

Here at Miami High there are many clubs which you can participate in such as BETA, INTERACT, KEY, YEARBOOK, FBLA, and many more. Senior Yinet Paule said, “Join KEY because they do activities that help with your community service.”

Senior Jenser Salazar recommends FBLA because it will help you with your business aspirations.
