The girls’ basketball team, though filled with freshmen, made their way back to the regional playoffs, where their season ended on February 17 with a 52-34 loss to Ferguson in the finals. In the district semi-finals, the Lady Stings blew out North Miami 54-9. However, the next game against Hialeah in the district finals was a bit more challenging, but they still managed to win 51-41. Moving on to the regional playoffs, the Lady Stings easily beat Everglades in the first round 55-20. In the regional semi-finals, the Lady Stings had quite the scare, but they still pulled out the 41-33 win against Flanagan. “The most outstanding players have been freshmen Colleen Buckner and Jeanine Scott,” said athletic director Mr. Graham.
