You walk into the auditorium where a stampede of classmates are ordering their class rings and hear some saying that they’re getting a 14k gold ring with an emerald that’s going to cost $ 2,000. You’re anxious in deciding what type, color, or style you want to include on your ring. This is the moment you get as a junior to get something that symbolizes your achievements and high school memories.

Why get a Junior ring?

Juniors get their rings for many reasons. Ivetsy Moregon said, “High school is one of the most memorable parts of your life and I would like to have something that can remind me of all the fun I had.” Others like Nyah Solano wanted to keep the tradition of getting a ring. Luis Martinez wanted to show that he had become an upperclassman and wanted to show off his ring to all his friends.

Your class ring symbolizes who you are and designing it wholly just the way you want makes it worthwhile. Junior Blanca Escobar says, “Detailing my ring from the beginning to the end as I wanted was the best.” Roger Alaniz enjoyed having a variety of styles to choose from. Senior Kevin Ponce said, “Getting my ring was worth it because even though it was expensive it’s something I will have for the rest of my life.”

How much do they cost?

Rings can be expensive to buy, but some students still choose to purchase them. Kayla Martinez said that her ring cost close to $900 because of all the extra designing she put on. Senior Nathan Arias said, “My class ring was on the expensive side costing me $1,500.”

Not everyone, however, buys a ring. Junior Lisbett Alvarez says that getting a class ring is too expensive. Nathaly Medina said, “I don’t like rings and wasn’t planning to buy one.”

Would you regret not getting your class ring?

Some students choose not to get their class ring, but later regret not purchasing one. Senior Marc Granados said, “Now that I’m a senior, I have nothing that reminds me of my high school experience.” Senior Richard Hernandez believes that not getting his class ring prevents him from remembering his achievements.

Not wearing your class rings after high school is why some students don’t buy a ring. However, senior Jose Abarca said, “I’ve worn my ring since I got it.” Yazmin Barreto says that she wears her class ring most of the time.
