I Need To Write This Down!
March 8, 2018
Writing is a great way to express anything and everything. There are different types of writing for everyone. Writing can portray the emotions of a poet or help researchers with their findings. Many interpretations can come through writing words.
To the people who adore writing, its significance is quite clear. Senior Lisbeth Chavarria states how, “humans are able to articulate thought,” because of writing. Writing can be “used as a transferable skill,” says creative writing teacher Ms. Rodgers, referring to how it’s crucial on a daily basis. Senior Mingli Yactayo, says, “There is more to the English language than what meets the eye.” Many meanings can hide beneath each word.
Writer’s Purpose
Poems are fascinating ways to write your emotions. Lisbeth Chavarria loves to read poetry and articles with disagreeable topics. Poets and vocal artists, such as Maya Angelou and Nina Simone, inspire her to produce her own pieces of writing.
Lisbeth, who has wanted to become a writer ever since she began to read, loves writing because she has the freedom of speech. Writing liberates her. “It’s who I am,” she says. When she writes, she likes to “exceed reality” by adding metaphorical quotes and perspective. She likes “sugar-coating” her words, hiding important messages.
Mingli Yactayo writes because it helps her become more expressive. She said, “I don’t feel limited when it comes to writing.” Mingli’s older sister is her inspiration. At a young age, her sister wrote a poem about their mother. Mingli adored how the poem was meaningful without using many words of expression. Even if Mingli won’t pursue writing as a career, she appreciates it.
She enjoys synthesizing and researching as much as being descriptive in her writings. She is currently taking AP Literature, which focuses on creativity and the theme of each story and poem. Mingli also takes Dual Enrollment, which requires real facts and important points.
Loving the Lyrics
Writing lyrics for your own songs is another way to be expressive. Singer Kim Cameron loves to be recognized as a story teller. “I am known for writing love songs,” she said. “In a world full of anger, I am of the belief [that] we could always use a little more love. I write for fans to take a break from [reality], as well as myself, as a reminder that you can never have too much love.” On the YouTube channel, sidefxandkimcameron, Kim published the song “3 Seconds” in January 2012, and it garnered over 1.1 million views in less than two months.
Kim has also created her own puppet show and book, Seaper Powers, to engage young audiences to read about the fictional wonders under the sea and the importance of friendship.
Historic Heroes
History holds many sacred writings from people. Ms. Rodgers enjoys reading the works of famous African American writers such as Martin Luther King Jr. “Analyzing literature, journaling, and technology-based writings” are what she loves to write. When she was in high school, she took creative writing courses. Her professor motivated her to become an English and Creative writing teacher as well.
Scenes of Screenwriting
Writing fictional material is important for expanding the reader’s creativity. Writing is crucial to me because I obtain the ability to express my emotions the way I want to, from characters to plot changes. Fictional content has always excited me and my imagination. My inspiration is a YouTuber named Jessica Bravura, who runs the channel, Aphmau. She has many characters and she places most of them in different environments. One series, Falcon Claw University, is based on high school conflicts. Mermaid Tales has the same characters, but adds fictional background to their personalities.
My style of writing differs from others because I use explicit details to convey feelings. I watch Disney films and read poems that provide importance. One day, writing will be my career because it allows me to be original with what I want to present.
