Are you struggling with school? Think there’s no solution? Well, lucky for you, Miami High offers free tutoring!

Saturday tutoring is offered from 8:30 to 11:30 AM, and after school tutoring is from 2:30 to 3:30 PM on school days. On Saturdays, the school provides free breakfast and also free pizza and soda after the second tutoring session is done.

There are two sessions every Saturday; the first session goes from 8:30 to 10:30 AM; the second session from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.

Students at Miami High believe that Saturday tutoring has helped them. Sophomore Adriana Maltez said, “It helps me keep up with the subjects I struggle with.”

Sophomore Alondra Mayorga said, “Attending Saturday school has helped me get my grades up, and it’s helping me study for upcoming tests.”

Many teachers that tutor on Saturdays believe it helps students have a deeper understanding of the subject. “I think it allows them to be more 1 on 1, and it helps many kids understand more what they need help with,” said English teacher Ms. Berrios.

Geometry teacher Mr. Perez said, “The students are doing much better in the subject, and we offer them extra credit so they feel motivated.”

On the other hand, many students don’t believe they should spend their Satudays at school. Junior Sebastian Niuwenhuijzen believes that we have such a busy schedule already and we only get 2 days to keep up with our work, so we shouldn’t come to Saturday tutoring.

“Coming to Saturday tutoring would only leave me one day to rest, and with all the homework I have to do, I wouldn’t rest at all,” said freshmen Sophia Hernandez.
