Senior Astryd Machado said, “Astrology has never failed me. I’ve been following it since middle school, and it has always been good to me.” She said that to get a doubter to believe, you must give them more information. “What works for me is I get their birth chart and I read it to them and then they start realizing that there’s truth to it,” she said.

Astrology goes deeper than just zodiac signs. Astrological birth charts can tell a lot about you. A birth chart is basically a snapshot of the sky at the time and place you were born. To get your birth chart, you need the exact time you were born. From this, you can receive insight about your personality.

Your sun sign is what determines your approach to life. Your moon sign is your inner self. Your rising sign is how the world sees you.

In astrology, there are 12 different zodiac dates based on your birth date. Each zodiac sign has its own connections such as a color, element, animal, or birth stone. For example, there are also many stereotypes about the different signs.

Each sign has their own strengths and weaknesses, and it is said to describe your entire personality as well. For example, if you were born on September 1^st, you would be considered a Virgo, A Virgin. Virgos are known to be judgmental and clean freaks. Senior Jamie Navarro stated, “People may say it’s ridiculous to believe something silly like that, but astrology actually goes deeper than what people post on social media. If you read your birth chart, you can learn things about yourself that you didn’t know.  If you go deeper into it, you can see how your upbringing was and what potential you have in this life. I’m a Pisces and I’m mostly compatible with Virgos, Taurus, Scorpios, and Cancers.”

Senior Percy Nacher said, “A lot of it stems from growing up in a very spiritual household but I believe in astrology because a lot of it is easy to relate to and it’s an interesting topic. I’m a Pisces and I’m compatible with other Pisces. We click together.”

Non-believers, however, have many reasons to be doubtful. “I don’t think that many people can be generalized and put into one category. It just doesn’t make sense,” said senior Marco Perez-Vasquez.

Cruz Serrano does not believe in astrology at all. “People choose what they want to be and how they act,” he said.

Evelyn Perez, a junior, said, “Everything is coincidental. I don’t think there is a reason behind it.”
