Miami Senior High School held back-to-school orientations in the auditorium on August 19. Principal Mr. Benny Valdes informed us that students are expected to do the same things they did last year: Getting up every day, going to school, putting in effort, and paying attention in class.

Progress reports are due in four weeks, so Stings must try their best. He recommends to “make a plan because if you don’t have one, it won’t get any easier when you get out of here.”  He guarantees that if you act like young adults, you will have all the possibilities and opportunities in life.

However, Mr. Valdes stated if you’re struggling, go to tutoring; if you need help, talk to counselors or friends. Also, participating in clubs and taking part can have a beneficial effect when applying to college. “Showing that you can multitask can show colleges that you’re responsible,” Valdes said.
