Recently after gaining numerous new members, Anime Nation has seated more devoted students into its empty officer positions to assist the original three officers with the club. In addition to the club’s president, senior, Marcos Villalobos; vice president, senior, Braynon Gay; and treasurer, junior, Mauricio Soza, the club now has five new officers.
Junior Melani Garcia, more frequently known by her nickname Excalibur, was appointed as the club’s new secretary. Senior Orion Vega is now the club’s head historian due to their extensive artistic talent. Alongside Orion, senior Mariana Cardenas and junior Lucero Chavez were both appointed as the club’s Historians to represent the creativity of the club and its banners. Last but far from least, junior Sofia Herrera became the club’s Sergeant at Arms to assist with keeping club meetings on track and in order.
Under the leadership of the club’s now seven officers, Anime Nation has gained numerous members including juniors, around four seniors, and a few freshman who amount to around 40 new, creative, and dedicated members who are eager to pitch in. In light of this new leadership, Anime Nation was also able to build their, believed to be, first ever float in the club’s history for the school’s Homecoming parade in October.
“Although we didn’t win anything, it shows just how much we can do when we all come together and how much our club is capable of,” said vice president, Braynon Gay. “Linking arms with all my officers and members at the end of the parade route after our performance, knowing that all our hard work was worth it, made me feel nothing but pride and excitement for what we’ll do next. You know what they say, ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for Anime Nation.’”
The club is advised by Dr. B. Ricknauth and hosts meetings every Thursday after-school in room 3315 at 2:30 pm. They welcome anyone who needs a club where they can feel as though they belong and make friends whilst indulging in their artistic, gaming, and cartoon related interests. They are always accepting new members regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or where they come from.
