Have you ever wondered who the best football club in the world is? Many people might think it’s Barcelona, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, or even Liverpool, but for me it’s Real Madrid. Their history, their players, and the passion surrounding the club make them unmatched.
From their incredible success in big tournaments to the loyalty of their fans, everything about Real Madrid feels special. They have shaped my love for soccer in so many ways, and I can’t imagine a club that comes close to what they’ve achieved.
In 2014, I became a Real Madrid fan after seeing my favorite Mexican player, Javier Hernandez or otherwise known as “Chicharito”, join the club on a loan. At first, I followed them because of him, but it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with everything about the team.
The incredible skill of players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, and many others, showed me the excitement of watching them dominate the field, and the passion of the fans drew me in completely.
Real Madrid isn’t just a club, it’s a legacy, and their history speaks for itself. They hold the record for the most Champions League titles in history, with 15, and they’re the only club in the world to have achieved mostly everything the European stage has to offer.
Their dominance in big tournaments is unmatched. Since 2014 they have reached 19 finals and only lost 4, proving they’re not like most clubs who fail to make it to a final. No other club has ever compared to their legacy, with 36 league titles, 5 club world cups, and legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Luka Modric, Iker Casilla, and many others. Real Madrid has built a reputation that the other teams can only dream of.
What truly sets them apart from other European clubs is not only their trophies but their determination. No matter how tough the opponent is, they always seem to find a way to make a comeback and win. The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is special not only for its history but for the incredible atmosphere fans create, making it a dream for players and fans to experience. Real Madrid’s fan base is loyal because of the team’s success, history, and the never-give-up mentality. Even in tough moments, the fans believe in comebacks.
One of their most famous comebacks was against Manchester City on May 4, during the 2021/2022 season where they went from almost losing by 3-5 on aggregate and having a shocking 1% chance of qualifying to the finals in the 89th minute to winning 6-5 on aggregate by full time and goals coming from both Rodrygo (2 goals) and Benzema, proving they don’t disappoint when it matters the most.
Another big comeback was a match against Borussia Dortmund on October 22, 2024, where Madrid turned a 2-0 halftime loss into a 5-2 victory, with goals from Antonio Rudiger, Lucas Vasquez, and a Vinicius Jr. hat trick (3 goals).
Real Madrid’s coaches have been crucial to the club’s success, especially since I began supporting them. They’ve not only helped develop young talents like Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Camavinga, and many others, but have also dominated European competitions. From 2014 to 2025, the club has won a total of 6 Champions League titles, 5 club world cups, 5 League titles, and many more.
Zinedine Zidane, the coach during 2016-2018 and 2019-2021, made history for the club, being in 3 consecutive Champions League finals and winning them, and for winning 5/6 trophies available during the 2016/2017 season, making it the best season Real Madrid has ever had.
Carlo Ancelotti, the current coach and previous coach during 2013-2015, has also played a crucial role in the club, from developing youth players and starting a new generation to ending Real Madrid’s 12-year Champions League drought by winning “La Decima” in the 2013/2014 season and later winning it again in the 2021/2022 & 2023/2024 seasons. This shows how Real Madrid has been unmatched by other clubs when it comes to European competitions.
Supporting Real Madrid has given me so many great memories. My most memorable moment was watching Real Madrid win 4-1 against Juventus in a Champions League final on June 3rd, 2017, with goals coming from Cristiano Ronaldo (2 goals), Casemiro, and Marco Asensio.
Another unforgettable moment came on April 12, 2016, when Real Madrid came from a 0-2 loss on aggregate against Wolfsburg, needing more than 2 goals to qualify for the semifinals. Many people thought Real Madrid would’ve already been disqualified, yet Real Madrid went on to win the match with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a memorable hat trick (3 goals).
Another great memory is from last season, when Real Madrid was up against their rival Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final. They ended up winning 4-1 with goals coming from Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo.
As a fan, their success inspired me to love soccer even more, especially their legendary midfield trio of Modric, Kroos, and Casemiro, who inspired me to want to play as a midfielder. Watching Real Madrid’s games got me interested in exploring other soccer leagues and seeing how different teams play.
I started following leagues like the Premier League, the Bundesliga, and even sometimes the Serie A in Italy, checking out clubs like Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan. It’s been amazing seeing other teams play differently, from their tactics to the different amount of energy each league brings.
