I got introduced to anime in 8th grade during COVID by one of my friends, Iman. I told him I was bored, and he told me that if I’m bored that I should watch a show called Naruto. I had nothing better to do so I watched it. Then after I finished it, he told me another anime to watch until eventually I started to just look for them myself. 

If I had to choose 5 of my favourite animes I have watched, it would be Naruto, One Piece, Hunter X Hunter, Attack on Titan and Death Note. And my favourite characters in each show are Sasuke, Zoro, Killua, Eren, and Light.  

                                      1.Naruto 

                              My Rating: 9.4/10 

 It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who seeks recognition from his peers and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village. And Sasuke, a member of the Uchiha clan, a powerful ninja family, is one of the last survivors of the clan massacre and seeks revenge on his clan’s murderer. 

My favourite scene in Naruto is when Sasuke was fighting Danzo and said, ‘’Hold still, Karen’’ and shot a lightning blade through both her and Donzo, then walked down Donzo to finish him off. (Link To Scene: https://youtu.be/ELsIy1Wf02I?si=yy-cR1tvSHPlLHnQ) 

My Top 3 Favourite Characters: Sasuke, Madara, Naruto 

Con: The show left out side characters Rock Lee and Neji and made Kaguya the main villain instead of Madara who I felt was the natural and made the most sense to be the main villain. 

                                       2.One Piece 

                                  My Rating: 9.4/10

One Piece is a story about a young pirate named Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, who search for the legendary treasure, The One Piece, and go on crazy adventures together. 

My favourite scene in One Piece is when Zorro said nothing happened to Sanji after taking all the damage his pirate captain Luffy had accumulated during his fight. (Link To Scene: https://youtu.be/OGDz2cANdEA?si=6rVYUAg9Z9BzfQwk) 

My Top 3 Favourite Characters: Zoro, Luffy, Usopp 

Con: The show has very slow pacing. 

                                3. Attack On Titan

                                  My Rating: 9/10 

Mankind is on the brink of extinction when these man-eating monsters terrorize everybody and set to destroy the last of human civilization. A teenage boy named Eren Jaeger must use his special gift to fight alongside with the military to defeat the Titan race. 

My favourite Attack on Titan scene is Erwin’s speech to charge at the Beast Titan and be used as distractions, so that Levi can take down the Beast Titan who was killing them off. (Link To Scene: https://youtu.be/xWhQdt-FafY?si=Myqt4yGuE7UXyP_R) 

My Top 3 Favourite Characters: Eren, Levi, Erwin 

Con: They kill off a lot of great characters. 

                                        4.Death Note

                                    My Rating: 8.9/10 

Death Note is a story about a high school student who discovers a notebook that can kill anyone whose name is written in it. A detective named L pursues Light, trying to stop the killings and bring Light to justice. 

My favourite scene in Death Note was L’s funeral when Light was next to Ryuk and said “I win” to L’s tombstone and told Ryuk that “It’s going to get even more interesting.”  (Link To Scene: https://youtu.be/gqA0xZuaEuE?si=wYZMKjACiAgO7q2y) 

My Top 3 Favourite Characters: Light, L, Ryuk  

Con: There are no fight scenes in the show. 

                                      Hunter x Hunter

                                    My Rating: 8.8/10 

Hunter x Hunter is the story of Gon Freecs, an 11-year-old boy who wants to become a hunter and go in search of his father who abandoned him to his aunt when he was born. 

My favourite Hunter x Hunter scene is when the phantom troupe was destroying the city and Chrollo was on the roof and said, “Make it a big show.” (Link To Scene: https://youtu.be/Q0nAwFBk9T0?si=JuwWsh25FhasreKC) 

My Top 3 Favourite Characters: Killua, Gon, Chrollo 

Con: It never finished because the writer of the anime got sick
