MAJ Sanchez and 1SG Guerrero, the JROTC instructors, are proud to announce that on February 6th, 2025, the Miami Senior High Stingaree JROTC Battalion received “HONOR UNIT with Distinction (HUD) designation”, which is the highest a unit can receive during an inspection for accreditation. This inspection, which happens every 3 years, was conducted by the U.S. Army of cadet command of Junior ROTC units, to accredit each Junior ROTC program. Miami High’s JROTC program was the only Battalion within MDCPS District inspected during the 24-25 school year that achieved the HUD Designation.
MAJ Sanchez and 1SG Guerrero also reported that Miami Senior High School, was one of only 10 schools within MDCPS District that received the Purple Star designation by the state of Florida on January 31st, 2025. This program is designed to assist military families arriving to Florida from military locations worldwide for a seamless transition from military school systems to civilian school systems.
Another piece of news is, on March 8th our Miami Senior High JROTC Battalion will participate in the 2025 JROTC state drill competition for the 6th time in a row.
Lastly, the JROTC program wants to congratulate our senior JROTC cadets who have received their full ride scholarship college acceptance letters: Romina Alvan, Rosemary Hernandez, and Wendy Martinez. Good luck also to those cadets expecting the ROTC scholarship to attend the Senior ROTC program at FIU!
