Since 2005, Levy has been the founder, president, and CEO of MaxxPoint Corporation in Boca Raton, Florida. MaxxPoint.com provides advisory services to emerging and early stage companies with significant growth potential.

Before that, in 1994 Mike Levy founded SportsLine.com (now known as CBSSports.com), a leading sports media company. At SportsLine, Levy forged alliances with various superstar athletes including Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Shaquille O’Neal.

Mike Levy is an engineer, inventor, and new media pioneer. He has designed and founded companies that have developed many innovative new products. Levy is a specialist in business structure and development, marketing and revenue generation, as well as strategic relationships.

“I have always enjoyed working on the cutting edge of new technology,” he said.  “And I love working with smart, creative people.”

Life at Miami High

Living just across the street from Miami High, Mike Levy enjoyed being an involved Stingaree. “It was the best high school in Dade County with the coolest building and facilities,” he said. “I was proud to say I attended.” Before becoming a Stingaree, Levy attended Citrus Grove Elementary and Citrus Grove Junior High.

His favorite courses here at The High included world history, algebra, geometry and calculus. Some of his best memories as a teenager were being a member of Miami High’s X-Club, a player on the tennis team, and spending time with his friends at football games.

An honor student and graduate of the class of 1964, Levy wasn’t the only one in his family to graduate from Sting Town. “My father graduated from Miami High in 1941, my brother in 1967 and then my sister in 1969,” he said. He continues to have a great relationship with his brother and sister to this day.

Though he graduated years ago, he still stays in contact with friends from high school, with about 20 former classmates as friends on Facebook. “I attended the 10, 20, 25, and 50 year reunions,” he said. “The 50th was especially fun at the Turnberry Resort. I was on the committee and was responsible for creating the memory book.” he said.

He also enjoyed coming back to visit Miami High again. “The restoration of the buildings was great to see,” he said.

College and early career

Attending Miami High taught big life lessons to Levy such as social skills and how to make and interact with friends.  “It was great preparation for college,” he said because he felt ready for the next the next big step in life.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1969 from Georgia Tech. After graduating college, Mr. Levy worked as a senior design engineer for Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida. He stayed with them from 1969 to 1973 where he was involved with designing microprocessor-based supervisory control systems for large power companies and oil pipelines.

He gives credit to his high school guidance counselors, but he always knew that he wanted to go into engineering. “I liked math and science,” he said.  “I was also inspired by the space program.”

His advice for students who are unsure of what career path to take is: “Take the first two years of college seriously and make a determination based on the classes you like and do well in.”

With all jobs Mr. Levy has had, he won’t name a favorite. “All my jobs have been tough, but I love them all equally,” he said.

Personal Life

Mike Levy was born on December 19, 1946, in Gainesville, Florida, where his father, a World War II veteran, was attending the University of Florida after leaving the navy. His mother was a switchboard operator at a local Ford Dealership. Six weeks after he was born, his family moved to Miami.

Levy describes his family as “great”, his childhood as “fantastic”, and his parents as “100% supportive”.

While Mike was young, he was very athletic. “I played pickup and intramural football and basketball, went to the beach, and had great friends,” he said.

Levy currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. He said, “I’ve been happily married to my wife, Jodi for 37 years. I have two wonderful, happily married daughters and three grandsons and one granddaughter, who is now a freshman at Alabama.”

In his free-time, he enjoys playing golf, spending time with his wife and friends, following sports and keeping up with new technology trends.
