Baseball Coach Mr. Edwin Bonilla sounds excited for this year’s team and season. He explained that he likes his team this year and how they have come out for practices. He also states that he has one new player Senior Jann Soto, right hand pitcher, that transferred from Miami Spring to help the team for a winning season.
The already been preparing for the season spring. They have been practicing after school every day and getting better each practice. They have used the fall the play as many games as possible to be ready for the season. Currently they are working out to get stronger and bigger at 6 in the morning. This helps the players with discipline and they give them a taste of how college would be.
Returning outfielder senior Samuel Bort- Bautista said that his goal is to get play college baseball and, if possible, to get signed to play professional baseball. One statistic that he would like to share is his junior batting average of 350 and 12 stolen bases.
The Miami High baseball team stays active when the spring season is over, playing summer ball for the South Florida Bullsharks which consist of Miami High baseball players and some other players from different schools. This team helps the kids get looked at by scouts to see if they are ready to play at the next level, which would be college ball.
Coach Bonilla is excited to see Francisco Sanchez, a right-hand pitcher and powerful hitter with a height of 6’5 Coach Bonilla has informed me that there had been rumors of college interest around Francisco. This is a great opportunity for Junior Francisco Sanchez to be looked at by colleges at such an early age “said Coach Bonilla”.
