Coffee is the new addiction of today. Over the years coffee has dominated the energizing industry. This is impacting adults and the younger age group, including people at Miami Senior High School.

According to the article “Coffee Consumption Hits Two-decade High” posted on the website for National Coffee Association < https://www.ncausa.org/Newsroom/Coffee-consumption-hits-two-decade-high-2022-NCDT >,  66 percent of Americans drink coffee, more than any other beverage. This is a 14 percent increase from last year.

Exposure to coffee

“Coffee is what helps me wake up in the mornings,” said United States History teacher Mr. Cid. Since Mr. Cid lived in a Cuban household, his exposure to coffee came about in his childhood.

Similarly, a lot of Miami High students have become well known with coffee since they were young. Junior Jesus Nataren stated that his introduction to coffee started at the immature age of 8 when his parents gave him his first sip of coffee. This also includes junior Barbara Martinez who said, “My mother introduced me to coffee when I was young, due to her loving coffee.”

Coffee love it or hate it

Although the dark, hot morning beverage is loved by a lot of people, others could easily do without it. For example, junior Justin Sabillon dislikes coffee because of its terrible taste.

On the other hand, you have junior Wilkins Castillo, who said, “Coffee has this certain flavor that I love.” He works at his father’s restaurant called “El Tiesto Café”, where they serve amazing coffee.

Junior Alexander Narvaez loves coffee, but his workout schedule prevents him from drinking coffee at the rates he loves. He said, “Whenever I can start drinking coffee again, that will be the first thing I will do.”

What is the best coffee

There are millions of different coffee flavors out there, yet which one is the best? Junior Brandon Bermudez said that all black coffee is the best, but Wilkins Castillo believes that the Cuban expresso must be number one: “It’s simply the best.”

Jesus Nataren believes that ice coffee is the best, due to it providing that refreshing touch. It provides that amazing taste that I love the most. There is a lot of love for Coffee, it even seems like it is still going in an upward trajectory.
