As the 2022-2023 year winds down to an end, the Miami High Thespians have had a fun year and are excited about what comes next.   

Thespians in a nutshell  

     When thinking about what Thespians do, it is easy to assume that it is only acting, but this is false. Thespians includes the wonderful opportunity to not only act on stage but work with Stage Crew, which helps backstage and keeps people in their order, and Technical, which is working in the booth and helping with lights and sound.  

The challenges of the year   

  One challenge that Thespians had to face was staging plays. “Putting on productions with students being involved in so many clubs can be tricky, but at the end of the day we always put on great shows,” stated Ms. Fernandez, the advisor of Thespians. 

   Even when rehearsals can be a bit stressful, it is always so relieving when the final performance is done and so many people come and praise their work. 

The year’s highlights  

   Mellany Gaitan, the 2022-2023 Thespians president, states, “This year’s highlight for Thespians was the praise we got after performing our musical In The Heights. We got so much praise and comments about how this was one of the greatest musicals that has been put on in Miami High over a long time.” 

    For Thespians member Robert Lee, “Our Thespians state competition was one for the books. I had so much fun performing awesome pieces with my troupe, and I learned so much from this experience.” 

Events to be excited about   

    Thespians collaborates with Choir to create a Musical Theater Alliance, and every year they have annual musicals. Stay in tune for the 2023-2024 school years’ musical. 

    Thespians also decided to bring back their annual Thespians banquet where everyone has a good time dancing, getting inducted into the International Thespians Honor Society, and finding out officer positions.  The new officers for the 2023-2024 school year are:
