Boys volleyball coach Sam Puentes has many great things to report about the 2023-2024 season. He says the team got off to a great start this season and went on to be GMAC Champs, and Regional Champs, while making it all the way to state semi finals! One of the main challenges the team faced, he said, was staying focused in the state semifinal.
The team’s record improved greatly from last season, soaring from 18-11 to 29-2. This was mostly due to some important players like Luis Lastre, Carlos Miranda, and Jefferson Moreno. During this season the team was ranked #1 in the state and #4 in the nation.
The team’s season ended with a state semi final loss to Southwest Miami Senior High. The team will be active during the summer doing heavy conditioning to prepare for the next season. Coach Sam Puentes predicts junior Carlos Miranda to be the leader of the team for the 2024-2025 season.
