2013 Graduation Class Ring Found at the Beach
On Thursday, September 17th, assistant principal Mr. Zabala received a letter from a fellow metal detectorist who had called our school because he had found a 2013 Miami High class ring at the beach, and he wanted to return it.
With the letter came the ring, and as Mr. Zabala was analyzing the ring to find out who owned it, he noticed that the initials “RJS” were carved inside the ring. After a few minutes with the 2013 Miahi, Mr. Zabala determined that the ring belonged to Rut Judith Silva.

“I went on the computer for the student’s prior info and got a hold of the mom,” he said. “I told the mother to have Rut contact me and within 5 minutes she called me and got ecstatic that I had her ring that she had lost at Miami Beach.” 30 minutes later Rut, who is studying medicine at FIU, was at Miami High getting back her ring.
