The Crown is handed Down

Imagine waking up on the first day of your senior year. You have been dreaming of this day since freshman year. You put on your outfit that you’ve been planning for weeks and top it off with your matching senior crown that you put countless hours into.  You walk down the hallways, and everyone looks up to you. It feels great to be the on top of the food chain.  That’s what many of this year’s juniors think.

Although many juniors enjoyed this school year, they have new expectations for senior year. Maykel Torres said, “I want my senior year to be fun and full of surprises.”

“I hope to be stress-free and really enjoy my last year in high school,” said Jamilee Yern.

Maryelin Leal said, “I usually find school events useless, but it’s our last year so we might as well make some memories before heading out into the adult world.”

Ana Matta said, “Senior year is going to go by in a blink of an eye, but I do expect it to be one of the hardest school years.”

Junior year was a rollercoaster for many of them. Yaileen Mendoza said, “It was stressful because I had to make up classes in night school that I failed freshman year.”

Franco Hernandez found junior year his hardest year because of all the college testing.

On the other hand, Isabella Pujol said, “I had so much fun participating in many school activities and meeting new people.”

Tatyana Garcia said, “Junior year has been my favorite so far, especially since it’s the year I got my ring.”

Mark Granados said, “I believe this year is where I’ve developed the most as a person.”

A new school year gives you a chance to turn over a new leaf, and many juniors have goals in my mind for the new school year.  Diego Reyes wants to get into his dream college of UCLA.

Ana Matta wants to maintain her high grades and not slack off.  Similarly, Arturo Arteaga said, “I want to be clear to graduate as soon as possible and not worry at the last minute.”

Angie Betancourt said, “I want to find my calling. It’s scary to graduate without knowing what you want to do.”

Since senior year is the last high school year, it’s only fair that seniors get more activities to distract themselves. The big question is how will they deal with the expenses?

Tatyana Garcia said that she is getting a summer job that pays well.

Gabriel Hernandez said, “I’ve been saving up since freshman year because I know how expensive it can be.”

Diandra Leon said, “I’m planning on using my birthday and Christmas money plus my savings from other occasions.”
