Girls Volleyball 2016-2017

Girls volleyball coach Mr. Nicholas Baumgarten reports that they ended their season in Oct. 4 with a 3-7 district record, and a 4-9 record overall. “This season was challenging in different ways: 1. learning to deal with different athletes; 2. Learning the dynamics of volleyball; 3. Dealing with the ups and downs of not being successful.”

One of his top performers was freshman Ashley Rodriguez (setter, outside hitter). “She performed well during the season, was very versatile, and could plug and play,” he said. “she would also drive in any position.”

Another stand-out was senior Diana Aguilar (setter, outside hitter, Captain), a returning varsity player. “She knew the game well and was a leader on the court,” said Coach Baumgarten. Finally, he points out senior Nathaly Fernandez (Middle hitter, Co-Captain). “She was a dual-threat player who could set and hit,” he said. “We used her as our outside hitter and as our go-to-closer when we needed a point.”
