When was the last time you showed school spirit?

Being on a sports team is one way to show Sting pride. Junior Walter Nolasco said, “I love being a part of the soccer team and doing everything I can to get a win for my school. It’s like being part of a family. Staying after the bell rings is hard when you’re tired, but it’s worth it.”

Some students at Miami High show school spirit by joining clubs. “Beta is an honor society and an enjoyable club where you interact with different people,” said junior Karla Peña.

Senior Juan Alvarado was a senator in SGA where he loved helping and volunteering with dances, donations, and collecting toys. Similarly, junior Ariel Borges joined Key because he wanted to help his community.

Students also show school spirit by buying school shirts. Interact member John Gonzalez said, “I buy almost every single shirt because I don’t like to wear polo shirts.” Junior Lidia Leal added, “I’ve bought the school shirts because they’re comfy.”

The homecoming parade is a tradition at Miami High, and participating in it is a great way to show school spirit. “I was a dancer for Interact at the parade last year and might do it again this year,” said junior Bryan Mairena.

Homecoming parade is a big deal to senior John Gonzalez, who said, “The homecoming parade is a lot of stress but it’s always worth it.”

Friday nights at football games with your friends are another way to show your school spirit. Junior Nathalie Cortes said, “I’ve gone to many football games. However, my favorite one is Miami High vs. Coral Gables because it’s the rival game. It’s the most interesting one, and I get to see a lot of my friends there.”
