Summer Lovin’

Summer, summer, summer! The school year is finally over, and you’re jumping with joy because the long break you’ve been counting down for is finally here. Hanging out with friends, vacationing with family, and just having fun—all these thoughts flood through your head. But will you have enough time for them all or will summer end too fast?

Best and Worst of Summer

For many students, summer was full of great memories. Senior Luis Moreno said, “The best thing for me was going to Chicago to visit my family and friends.”

Another senior, Kelsi Velarde, said that attending the Justin Bieber concert was a dream come true for her.

On the other hand, some students had a rocky summer. “I missed a week of band camp and had to catch up fast,” said junior Camilo Alvarez.

Senior Oswaldo Cruz said that not being able to see his older brother, who is in the army, was the worst part of his summer.

Summer, short or long?

Many students at MHS complained that they didn’t have enough time to do all the things they had planned. Sophomore Jasmine Hill said, “I spent most of my summer working on summer reading.”

“The workouts for basketball took up my entire summer,” said junior David Perez.

Other students, however, were ready for summer to end. “I was bored at home and missed my friends,” said junior Britney Alpizar.

Steven Melendez, a senior, said that he didn’t have much to do but stay at home.

Longer Summer, More Fun

Think about all the things you missed out on because summer wasn’t long enough. For many students at the High, this was the case. “I would’ve stayed in Nicaragua more,” said senior Elizabeth Davila. “I was only there for 10 days, and I love visiting my family.”

Camilo Alvarez said that he would’ve gone fishing with his older brother one last time before he left to college.

However, other students didn’t need summer to be longer. “I did everything I wanted to do, so I really didn’t miss out on anything,” said sophomore Bryan Alfonso.

Freshman Joshua Morales said that he didn’t miss out on anything due to vacationing with his family all summer.

Summer’s Over

Some students were even excited about coming back to school. Senior Karina Castellanos said that senior year is supposed to be exciting and she can’t wait to graduate.

Britney Alpizar said, “I love school and learning.”

On the other hand, others shivered at the thought of going back to school. Jasmine Hill was definitely not looking forward to coming back to school because it’s too much work.

Joshua Morales believes that school is boring so he wasn’t looking forward to another school year.
