Here at Miami High, there are many students with talent. Sophomore Paola Guanche is a famous artist whose talent demonstrates her passion for music.

Paola was born in Cancun, Mexico, but all her family is from Cuba. She has grown up with music because her parents are musicians. Although she has never taken singing lessons, she has a wonderful voice.

“My greatest inspiration is my mom and my aunt because they are artists just like me,” she said.

Life as artist

In 2013, Paola participated in a program on Spanish television’s Telemundo called “LA VOZ KIDS” where about 6,000 others children competed. Paola Guanche was the winner of the competition at age 11, and at her young age, she entered the world of fame.

“After I won in ‘LA VOZ KIDS’ my life changed completely. I had a lot of performances, and I had to practice singing in my house every day.” Now  she makes money from performing.

Though Paola would face a very different world, nothing was strange for her because she lived the world of fame with her parents.

In the future, Paola sees herself with a lovely family and fulfilling her dream of being a famous singer. Paola wants to be an inspiration to other people and to be remembered not only as an artist, but a friend to everyone and a humble human.

She does not doubt that she will archive her dream since she has been working on it from a young age. Although Paola is a singer, she is also interested in dancing, poetry, acting, and photography.

As a student in MHS

Some people think that the life of the great singer is all pretty, but it’s really not. They work a lot to be where they are.   As a 10th student

at Miami High, Paola Guanche has a lot of responsibilities because she needs to find a balance between her studies and her life as an artist.

“It’s difficult to be a student and an artist at the same time because I need to be organized, and when I have a show, I need to talk to my teachers on time,” she said. “Although my life changed completely because a lot of people knew me after I won in LA VOZ KIDS, it also affected me in my school because I had to do a lot of homework.”

One of the things she does not like from her fame is the fake people, because sometimes people want to pretend to be friends and then they start saying things about her that are not true.

“I don’t consider myself as a famous person,” she said. “I’m only a normal person, but it gives me joy to know that I can inspire other young people who want to be like me.”

Like others students, Paola wants to have an amazing experience in high school. “I like the clubs at Miami High because they are fun,” she said. Paola joined Beta club this year and she says that she likes it because she can interact with other people.

Life outside the school

Some artists need to have a break after a long time of work. Do you sometime ask yourself what an artist is doing when they are not on the stage? When Paola Guanche is not in school or singing, she is in the gym or she is hanging out with her friends.
