Softball Team

Softball coach Mr. Waldo Rodriguez reports that the team had quite a disappointing season. “We were very inconsistent,” he said. “At times we looked like the best team, and at others we were the worst.” He says that the team’s biggest obstacle was mental, not physical. “They were able to carry through the games physically,” he said, “but they weren’t able to perform mentally under pressure.”

The team was able to make it to the district tournament, but sadly lost in the first round. The team’s final record was 4 wins and 6 losses, beating South Miami, North Miami, and Miami Beach twice. They had a 3-5 district record.

Despite their difficult season, Waldo would like to recognize the team’s top players: captain senior Samantha Jiron, third baseman senior Tyja Hart, catcher sophomore Vicky Millon, and 2nd baseman freshman Karime Osordo.

Samantha Jiron said that the team didn’t get to where she wanted the team to go, but she’d like to thank all the girls for making her senior year memorable; she is proud of them. She’d also like to thank their coaches, Waldo and Ralf, for putting up with the team and helping them every step of the way.
