Senior Hakeem Haile said, “Everyone that’s a part of this club acts not only as friends, but as family.”

“We need pictures of the clubs!”

“We need pictures of the sports teams!”

“We need pictures of the school activities!”

If you’re involved in a club or sport at Miami High, you probably had to stand still for a really long time to take one perfect picture. Or if you’ve gone to any dances or after school activities, you’ve seen the flashes of cameras everywhere. That’s all thanks to one club: TSA.

TSA, a club focused on photography and digital design and whose students submit their work to competitions such as the Youth Fair competition, stands for the Technical Students Association, which is a co-curricular club like HOSA and Thespians. It’s paired with the Communication Technology class, also known as photography. The teacher and supervisor is Ms. Diaz. To join the club, you can either be in Ms. Diaz’s class or you can fill out an application from the activities office in room 1145 if you have a 2.0 GPA.

Why do members join?

Everyone in TSA is passionate about many things, but many love photography. Senior Cindy Lopez said, “I’ve always admired the work of photographers and the millions of ways to change a picture in Photoshop.”

“I’ve always had an interest in the arts so, when I found out there was a class and a club for photography, I couldn’t wait to join,” adds junior Pedro Ramos.

TSA treasurer Eileen Toledo, a senior, says she’s always had a passion for taking pictures and decided to give TSA a chance.

Why is it so unknown?

TSA is a big club because every student that is a part of the Communications Technology class is a member of the club, yet many of club members are inactive. TSA Historian Jayde Garcia said, “It’s a small club, and if you’re not in the class, you don’t know about the club.”

What’s the Best Part?

The best part of being in TSA, according to many TSA members, is having the opportunity to take pictures for the school yearbook.  “Every picture I take for the school makes me feel closer to it,” said junior Andy Rodriguez.  Roxanna Amador, a senior, said, “You get to do what you love: photography.”

On the other hand, senior Bryan Molina likes creating shirts and buttons and participating in the Youth Fair.
