The freshmen that came to Miami High had to adapt to being high schoolers. It wasn’t hard, but now that they have adapted, the year is almost over. These freshmen are ready to become sophomores and move on in their high school lives. But, how do they rate their freshmen experience at Sting Town?

What they liked?

Many freshmen enjoyed their first year of high school. Henry Sanjuan likes how his teachers were respectful.    “This school provides many learning opportunities,” said Daniel Lago, “such as a variety of classes and clubs to learn from.”

Briseidi Lopez liked Miami High because all of her friends are here.

If I ever left Miami High, I would definitely miss it. I’m sure each high school has its charm, but all my friends, new and old, reside in this school.

— Juliet Perez-Del Oro

Freshmen enjoyed different classes at Miami High. Mario Alvarez liked world history because he feels like he can research a lot of topics by himself now. Nicole Alvarado enjoyed her Algebra 1 because she’s passionate about math. Cassidy Rodriguez said that she liked biology because Bio is part of her future career.

Many freshmen like the teachers they got. Zack Gutierrez said that he enjoyed the way Mr. Carvajal teaches math. Uriel Ramirez also said, “I like Carvajal because he makes learning easier.”

What they disliked?

On the other hand, some freshmen disliked some classes at MHS. Juliet Perez-Del Oro’s least favorite class was Algebra 1. “Not for lack of effort, but because math is my weakest subject and my teacher’s style of teaching doesn’t match my style of learning,” she said.

One thing I would change at Miami High is to allow teachers to teach about real life problems such as taxes.

— Amanda Fernandez

Sam Gomez also disliked math because it’s a challenging class. Nestor Zuniga didn’t like world history because he found it really boring.

Would you change anything from Miami Senior High?

If the freshmen had a chance to change something from this school, they would. Amanda Fernandez said that she would like to allow teachers to teach about real life problems such as taxes.

“The lunch time,” said Jimmy Rojas. “We have too little time to eat. I prefer at least 45 minutes of lunch.”

Jiovany Delarosa said that he would like the gym to be bigger.

On the contrary, Jason Pineda thinks that nothing should be changed. “If it’s not broken don’t fix it,” he said.
