On December 6th, the Law and Leadership Honor Society hosted the event “Talk and Dine with an Attorney” in Miami High’s museum room.  12 Students from the Law Magnet and LLHS were invited to eat lunch and talk with Assistant State Attorney Maribel Reyes and MHS Alumni Anaili Triana who works as an Attorney for an Insurance company.

They shared why they decided to get into law, some of the major difficulties they had, and advice they would give to students who wanted to pursue a career in law.

“I went into law because I wanted to make an impact on the world. I’ve always been good at speaking and reading, and in my junior year of college I realized I wanted to work in an attorney’s office,” said Ms. Triana.

Ms. Reyes said she wanted to be an immigration attorney originally, but switched to criminal law. She eventually majored in criminology and became a prosecutor.

Some of the advice they gave the students were to study hard, have a good GPA in college, study hard for the LSAT and bar exam.

The event was organized by LLHS advisor Ms. Perez and LLHS President Nataly Cancio. “It was a great opportunity to meet with fellow attorneys and ask questions about their careers.”
