After school on February 22nd, Miami High seniors Ariel Trueba, Adalain Sans and Kelin Escobar took a stand against gun violence and organized a protest against Florida’s loose gun laws. The protest sought tougher psychiatric evaluations and stronger background checks for people trying to buy guns and the removal of automatic rifles from the market. An estimated 100 students marched from Miami High down 8th Street to Versailles Restaurant to make sure another tragedy like the mass shooting that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will never happen again. Channel 51’s Telemundo came out to interview the students. “This event was one of many to come in the struggle for school safety,” said Ariel Trueba.
