Advanced Choir after their MPA performance

Choir teacher Ms. Cid, reports that on March 9th, the beginning and advanced choirs earned an Excellent rating on performing and a Superior rating on sight-reading at the district evaluation known as MPA (Music Performance Assessment). The choir sang Baloo Baleerie, Tue Tue, Jambo, and Erev Shel Shoshanim.

Her choir students also participated in the Florida Vocal Association’s Solo and Ensemble event on January 13. All students sang 2 pieces for an evaluation of Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair, or Poor. Jason Albisu, Kevin Martinez, Nayib Jorrin, Jasmine Bermudez, Marian Moran, Alfred Cardenas, Mayra Chavez, Liliam Montero, and Mariah Gonzalez all earned Superior ratings as soloists. Roger Alaniz, Eduardo Arriaga, and Alexa Melendez earned Superior ratings as pianists. Katheryn Gallo earned an Excellent rating for singing as well. All Superior rated students will attend another Solo and Ensemble event in April at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

In the middle of January, 19 chorus students and 6 guitar students auditioned for the All-County/Honor’s High School Choir and Secondary Guitar Ensemble. These students will perform again at the Adrienne Arsht Center in April. Congratulations to soloists Liliam Montero, Mariah Moran, Brianna Rodgers, Diana Aleman, Jade Santiago, Juliet Perez-Del Oro, Calypso Ponce, Katheryn Gallo, Nayib Jorrin, Raziel Martinez, Kevin Aguilar, Noe Garcia, Kevin Severo, George John-Banegas, Manuel Zambrano, John Toyens, Kevin Martinez, Jason Albisu, and Joao Freitas for making it in the choir section. Congratulations also to Roger Alaniz, Brisa Berlanga, Harold Magdalena, Nayib Jorrin, Jose Morales, and Eduardo Garcia-Barbon for making it in the guitarist section.
