Band

On February 25 and 26, Miami High had nearly 50 band and Colorguard students take part in the Florida Bandmasters Association District Solo & Ensemble Festival. For this event, students had to prepare their own music (or create their own choreography) to perform for a judge. 16 out of 20 performances received a superior rating, which is the highest rating that can be achieved.

Michelle Martos-Tuba solo, Rodrigo Noguera-Clarinet solo, Michael Albert-Alto sax solo, Lucianne Servat-Flute solo, and Joseluis Garcia-Mallet solo were able to attain a Superior while playing a grade 5 piece (which indicates college-level difficulty) and are therefore eligible for the State Solo & Ensemble Festival in March.

It has been confirmed that the saxophone duet and the flute trio will no longer be played in the State and Ensemble Festival in March but with the great performance they presented, we are all proud.

Apart from this, Lucianne Servat-Flute, Alexandra Martinez-Flute, Ginelle Servat-Oboe, Alberto Acosta-Bassoon, Justin Brooks-Trumpet, and Joseluis Garcia-Percussion were chosen to participate in this year’s Superintendent’s Honor Music Festival that will be hosted here at our very own Miami High next month.
