FEA names Dr. Yoham Teacher of the Month

FEA has recently started the teacher of the month program. First-year club advisor Ms. Enriquez and the FEA officers wanted to reward Miami Senior High school teachers every month as a form of gratitude. Every week on Tuesday, FEA nominates three teachers from different subjects. All Miami High students are then invited to answer a poll to see which educators will be chosen. The polls can be found on the FEA Instagram, MHS 2024 story and on a Schoology link.

At the end of each month, a total of 12 teachers would soon be shown. A post is made of the teacher selected for that month with information about them, their career, and a quote.  The winner receives a certificate, a special parking space, and a personalized wooden apple made by the FEA with the assistance of art teacher Ms. Lee and woodshop teacher Mr. Brown.

The September 2023 winner was none other than biology teacher Dr. Yoham. “It was an amazing feeling and a total surprise to me,” he said.  “I wasn’t expecting it!” He was smiling joyfully, and his class cheered for him with an array of clapping.

At the end of year, the teachers that won monthly will be voted for once again, but this time around for FEA Educator of the Year. Ms. Enriquez believes that it’s fair to hear the students’ voice when it comes to which teacher deserves that title.
