Chess coach Mr. Aguilar reported that on February 2, 2019, Miami High’s team competed in the National Chess Day Tournament and received 1^st place. Some of the students with outstanding performance were: freshman Jancarlo Cruz who won third place; freshmen Xavier Cruz and Juan Franco who won four out of five matches; and juniors Kyle Marie and Raul Lopez who, with senior Tatiana Guerra, helped round out the team to win 1^st place over all. The coach also reports that the team’s next tournament will be Nationals in Chicago from March 10^th to the 15^th.
