For many students at Miami High, the simple act of using the bathroom has become a strategic challenge. Between the hygiene of students and the crowd in the bathrooms, especially during periods, it is annoying.
What do people think of the bathrooms in school
Many students complain about the sanitation and how people feel disgust every time they enter the bathroom. Junior Jefferson Lopez stated, “I always find something weird like how I saw the trash can on top of the sink.”
Senior Angel Martinez said when he enters the boy’s bathroom, there’s people smoking, throwing water, and crowding the place, so it’s just a bad experience.
Freshman Julian Rodriguez said that the bathrooms could go from a maze of people to a cloud of smoke in 2 minutes which bothers him.”
Why are the bathrooms so dirty?
The bathrooms could vary in dirtiness depending on the time and place you go. Sophomore Evalin Perez said, “Sometimes the bathrooms can be perfectly fine in the morning, and then there can be paper towels all over the floor just because people are so lazy and this is a problem, especially in third building.”
Senior Justin Marlin said, “I’ve been in this school for four years and I haven’t seen any improvement in the state of the bathroom. People do it because they are lazy or just for the jokes.”
Junior Randy Tellez said, “The reason school bathrooms are so dirty is because people just don’t care. They think it isn’t their problem, so they just do what they want.”
The biggest issue with the boy’s bathroom?
The boy’s bathroom has all kinds of problems the people must deal with daily. Sophomore Julia Alvarez said, “I think the biggest issue is how quickly it can go from clean and smelling fresh to dirty and smelling bad which makes me only want to use the bathroom in the morning.”
Senior Joshua Rodriguez said, “The biggest problem is how there is never any paper towels I can use because they are always on the floor or because people use an unnecessary amount.”
Junior Emilio Brizuela said, “The biggest problem is how students use the bathroom as a hangout spot. It bothers me when there’s a lot of talking in the bathroom when I need to use it.”
The biggest issue with the girl’s bathroom
The girl’s bathroom also has a fair share of problems female students deal with. Freshman Emily Rodriguez said, “The girl’s bathroom is always so crowded and always full of girls sometimes I see 10 girls grouped up in one stall, so it becomes a mission just to use the bathroom.”
Sophomore Juliana Rosales said that the worst part about the girl’s bathroom is that between classes it’s so crowded, “so when I try to go in between class, I always end up being late.”
Freshman Joslyn Perez said, “The biggest issue is how other girls just stay there and do anything but use the bathroom so when I try to use it, there’s always someone taking up the stalls but not using the bathroom.”
What could be done to keep them clean
The bathrooms should always be clean so students can use the bathrooms with no problems, but how could this become a reality? Principal Mr. Valdes said, “Kids should clean up after themselves, and make a line when it’s crowded.”
Senior Amani Lopez said students should go little by little, “so the bathroom doesn’t crowd up.”
Junior Brianna Velazques said a good way to keep bathrooms clean is to clean up after yourself and be responsible.
